I gave up trying to remember everything that needed to be done on my to do list a long time ago. I no longer try to remember to remember to do anything. If it needs to be prioritized, completed, or attended to then whatever it is, it must be put in my calendar as a task to be completed.

This has helped me tremendously. I rarely make a list with pen and paper. That list must be placed on my calendar using the task function if I really want to remember it. My tasks include personal and professional tasks, My tasks include reminding myself to send an email, make a call, pick up my groceries, drop off my laundry, pack my suitcase, take my vitamins, and any other important or trivial task that I want to remember.

I open my calendar app, select task, type in my task or task list, then I categorize the task, select a date and time for its completion, and save. There are times when I have to reschedule a task that pops up in my phone reminders because something else has claimed my attention or another day works better to do it. But for the most part, when I check my calendar in the morning, I will see more than the events I am committed to, I will also see the tasks for which I am responsible.

What about you? How do you remember everything that it is that you need to get done every day? Do you also use the task function in your digital calendar? Do you use a notebook or random piece of paper to write down your task list? How do you keep up with all that you need to accomplish in a day?

This makes me think of the infinite, undivided, and unlimited attention that the Creator gives to the universe and everything in it. I am pretty sure that the Creator does not need to write a task list as I do. If I do not write my tasks in my calendar, there is a chance that what I meant to do will be forgotten. But forgetfulness is not an attribute of God when it comes to remembering us. Though I do appreciate that the sea of forgetfulness as the place where our confessed sins are cast by God.

I am so grateful that God remembers me. I am so grateful that God remembers the tasks that need to be done in my life. I am so grateful that God initiates tasks on my behalf regardless of whether or not they were on my agenda. I am so grateful that the tasks on God’s agenda are ordering my steps, healing my wounds, lifting my bowed down head, drying my tears, making a way out of no way, filling my heart with joy, blessing me as well as everything and everyone concerning me.

I am on God’s agenda and so are you.

Isn’t that good news?

**17** How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

**18** If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.

Friends, I am grateful for this truth. God’s task list for us all is grounded in how precious God’s thoughts are towards us. And God’s thoughts towards us are “more in number than the sand.”

Think about the sand on the beach. Think about each individual grain of sand on the beach. It is impossible for each particle of sand to be counted. That is how many thoughts God has for us. And if we are honest about it, sand can be quite aggravating to us, trying to wash it off, clean it up, get rid of it after a trip to the beach. That sand is quite stubborn and it just lingers seemingly for days after that visit.

That is how God’s thoughts are for us. God’s thoughts are vast, stubborn, and they linger for our entire lives. God’s thoughts are not going away from us.

How amazing it is that God would think so much about us!

And keep us on God's Task List...
